Midnight Poppy Land 62: Doubts and Rewards (with Tanya, Tori, and Vita)

We begin the episode with Poppy’s self doubting thoughts. She then responds to the thug’s retorts by fiercely standing up for Tora, who is shocked and tries not to show it.   

While Poppy is panicking and thinking about how it must have been for Tora to grow up in this world, Tora is just standing there, cool as a cucumber.   

Reaching for straws, Poppy tries to, er, unzip Tora to reveal his flower tattoos, attempting to intimidate the thugs.  Meanwhile, the thugs are busy ordering food and chatting on the phone. Very organized.   

While Poppy is thinking about how different her and Tora’s world are, the pack leader asks her a series of very good questions that hit straight to both Poppy and Tora’s hearts. OUCH.  

We switch to Candy and Ben. Ben is being truthful about the pin, and Candy is so proud of him she bursts into tears. We infer a good deal about Candy’s parenting from this and the coworkers who come down to help her.  

Thug group 1 finally catches up to Ben, and poor Lizard Man has the shock of his life when he discovers that the mom of his prey is none other than his beloved Candy.   Back at the gamehall, Poppy stammers, trying to answer Mohawk Man’s questions. Mohawk Man is crying because turns out he has his own history prompting his questions.  

Tora reaches out to Poppy, resting his forehead on hers and using his cigarette for emotional support. His hands are shaking. Poppy, seeing this, choose to replace his reward system with her own - a kiss. His hand stops trembling and the cigarette falls to the ground, unneeded.
