Meet the Tinkers: Interview with Keryl Brown Ahmed, Author of Big Ethel Energy

In this Meet the Tinker interview, we talk to Keryl Brown Ahmed, the author of Big Ethel Energy on Webtoons who has also worked on a number of film productions.

Keryl didn’t even like writing as a kid, and it took a math and science high school to get her to write a script and realize, hey, she liked it. We talk about how she overcomes self-doubt, and her work on the television show Blackish and the new movie Cheaper by the Dozen.

Keryl was a huge Archie’s comic fan, so she was thrilled to get the opportunity to pitch a story to Archie’s Comic and Webtoons, and that’s how we ended up with Big Ethel Energy. We talk about the messages Keryl tries to impart in the story, and how she actually likes having structure to help guide her creativity.
